Old Bohemian Castles: Karlštejn Castle, Zvíkov Castle and Orlík Castle

karlstejnOn this tour we’ll see one of the most beautiful castles of the Czech Republic.
Karlštejn castle is the gothic jewel of Europe and the Czech Republic, the heavenly Jerusalem, it has an unique position among Czech castles. It was founded in 1348 by the Czech King and Holy Roman Emperor Karl IV as a place for safekeeping of royal treasures, especially Karl’s collection of holy relics and the coronation jewels of the Roman Empire.
Zvíkov Castle – the seat of the first Czech kings and one of the most picturesque places in Bohemia. Why? Zvíkov Castle located at the confluence of the Vltava and Ottawa rivers, among rocks and forests. This is really significant place in the history of Bohemia: these stones still remember King Premysl Otakar II and according to some, this is where the royal treasures were stored before the Karlstejn! Zvikov castle keeps its mysteries…

After about 15-20 minutes we will be in the castle Orlik
Orlík Castle is located on the bank of a beautiful lake, silver cliffs and forests around. The original position of the caslte, on a rock 60 m above the Vltava valley, was altered by the creation of the Orlík reservoir in 1954-62, and the castle is now barely a few metres above the water level. But nonetheless, it is also one of the most beautiful places in Bohemia.
